Dane chairs the Intellectual Property and Technology Section of the Hawaii State Bar. He also serves as an elected member of the board for the William S. Richardson School of Law Alumni Association. He served as a coach for the President William McKinley High School Mock Trial Team from 2013 to 2016.
From mid-2010 to 2013, Dane worked at the Department of the Prosecuting Attorney in Honolulu, HI. As a trial prosecutor, Dane gained valuable courtroom and trial experience handling numerous hearings and trials. Dane has worked with countless victims of violent and property crimes and has obtained convictions in jury trials for felony and domestic violence cases, and in jury trials and bench trials for misdemeanor, DUI, and traffic cases.
Dane received a J.D. from the University of Hawaii’s William S. Richardson School of Law in 2010, and a B.A. with honors from the University of California Santa Cruz in 2006.
While in law school, Dane served as a staff writer for the University of Hawaii Law Review. He completed a judicial externship with the Honorable Chief Judge Susan Oki Mollway of the United States District Court for the District of Hawaii. He was a writer and oralist on the Intellectual Property Moot Court Team, and he received the CALI Excellence for the Future Award in Business Associations. He was elected president of the Student Bar Association and was a co-founder of the law school's Kayaking Club.
Dane also worked as a summer law clerk for the Legal Aid Society of Hawaii in the areas of family law, consumer law, and public benefits.
